"I imagined Elias as a prophet through and through, as we could use him nowadays again, strong, eager, at times angry and wrathful and dark, a contrast to the court people and common people, almost a contrast to the whole world, and yet carried by angle wings."

(Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy)

Amidst the extensive modernisation of the 19th century - between euphoria and crisis - Mendelssohn creates a leader, a person to implement order. It is about the big question, what can and should be believed. Which traces should we follow? The questions for a good life order and for the traces of faith are more current than ever. We are excited for Mendelssohns great masterpiece in a standard-defining interpretation through Frieder Bernius and his celebrated Stuttarter Ensembles as well as exquisite soloists.
